Sat, Feb 25, 2012
Glad Tidings Auditorium
Sure to thrill the ears and spark the imagination, this program opens with the prelude to Hansel and Gretel Humperdinck’s self described “fairytale opera,” followed by one of Ravel’s most famous orchestral works Mother Goose Suite. For a finale, we present the incredible symphonic masterpiece Scheherazade, by Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov, with its lush textures and exotic harmonies reminiscent of 1001 Arabian Nights, from which the piece takes its title.
