The Toronto Symphony Orchestra returns to Sudbury, playing Beethoven, Mendelssohn and more!

On September 15th 2009, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra returns to Sudbury for its debut in Glad Tidings Sanctuary. Music Director Peter Oundjian conducts a program featuring a World Premiere written by acclaimed TSO Composer Advisor Gary Kulesha, the Concerto for Trombone & Orchestra by Grondahl, featuring TSO Principal Trombone Gordon Wolfe as soloist, as well as music by Beethoven and Mendelssohn.
In addition to this public concert, Maestro Oundjian and the Orchestra will perform two one-hour concerts for student audiences on September 16th as part of a three day residency, which also sends many members of the orchestra into local schools to present a rich assortment of performances and master classes.
This marks the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s fifth year of Residency Tours to Northern Ontario, a tradition the TSO is proud to have developed, and to which the Orchestra looks forward every year. The 2009 Residency Tour is supported by the Ontario Arts Council and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
