“I would teach the children music, physics and philosophy, but the most important is music, for in the patterns of the arts are the keys to all learning.” —Plato
The language of music has the power to express where words fail, and every person can learn it. Learning music is fun, but the benefits of your musical education don’t stop there; the satisfaction that comes with achievement affects all aspects of life, such as improving creative thinking and self-esteem. Whether you are looking for lessons for your family, your students, or yourself, the Sudbury Symphony Conservatory of Music is devoted to fostering a healthy knowledge of music to students of all ages.
- Private lessons are weekly 30min, 45min or 1hr of private instruction throughout the academic year.
- Lessons include technique of the instrument, basic theory, and, of course, musical performance.
- Two student recitals per year give students a chance to develop and nurture performance skills.
- Students have the opportunity to witness designated rehearsals of the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra.
- When students are at an appropriate level of proficiency on their instrument, they are encouraged to consider becoming a member of the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra!
- Nos cours sont disponibles en français!

Group Lessons
Let the learning begin! Group lessons are an enjoyable and affordable way of introducing music to school children, and have the potential to ignite a life-long passion and appreciation of the arts. Many professional musicians will attest to their first contact with their instrument being in a group class. Indeed, our own cello instructor, Alexandra Lee, is one of those musicians.
- Group lessons are on site at participating schools.
- Schools provide a room in which the lessons take place.
- Classes are a minimum of 3 students, and a maximum of 5 students. (If 6 or more students register, the class will be divided into two groups.)
- Les cours en groupe sont aussi disponibles en français!
